Are you Moroccan?

Yes ! Of course I am.

And let me tell you How.

Firstly I was born in Rabat, by a beautiful Amazigh Moroccan woman !

I attended moroccan schools and learned "Tarbia islamia " ( muslim education).

I can eat all moroccan dishes , even lhelba !

I love the Keftan and at 7 years old I had my first bespoke Jellaba.

I spent my childhood eating deferent unhealthy snacks in Hanout, as Merindina and Raybi Jamila.

I remember dancing Shakira with my girlfriends and spend all my money in girlish french magazines.

Every spring season I went to visit my aunt in Khenifra, spending my days in nature with animals and teaching my cousins Darija (moroccan dialect ) while I was learning Amazigh.

My first language exchange lol.

I can share with you more about my childhood memories that can define me as a moroccan, in equal ways as you moroccan citizen.

But what I want to discuss here, in my blog, It's how for most people, their race is the only aspect of their identity. How They will be whatever race their parents are, and stay being that for life. And how For mixed/race , it is a little more confusing.

I might look, act, think or live little unalike than an average moroccan girl, or I might have a deferent parents. But i't doesn't mean that I don't feel myself as a Moroccan too.

And to clarify , it doesn't give to anyone the right to exclude me or etiquette me as a foreigner !

For example In Italy, I had a very rare and ugly experience with a Moroccan girl.

This person, a very ungry human being , aggressively believed that a person like me shouldn't identify herself as a Moroccan, but just as a yellow person.

A very sad girl who made me sad for long time. I couldn't believe that someone from my same country rejected me that easly, without confronting me.

As I said most of the people specially racist ones are very much convinced that pure Race it is the only way to identify themself, their existence, among others.

Mixed Race, people like me and maybe you , are aware that Race it's not important.

So when someone asks me if i'm Moroccan or korean or Italian; Today after all the confusion, My answer it's always Yes !

I'm Moroccan, I'm Korean and I'm Italian.

I LOVE my countries , I'm proud and grateful for my backgrounds and I embrace those beautiful cultures as One culture, as Mine like yours !

My conclusion? Stop giving importance to RACE.
